Japanese tourist raped for weeks near Kolkata

One gets to think that the last episode of rape must have been an eyeopener for the male population in India, but news like these makes me shameful of the Indian mindset.

A Japanese tourist was raped by 5 men near Kolkata, these men spoke Japanese and lured the girl to countryside outside Kolkata and repeatedly raped her. She then informed a few fellow Japanese she knew. The news brought the Japanese consulate into action and now the police have arrested the alleged rapists. It seems from the news that these men have done such things before. We really need to take action against such men. Even after the December 16th case the government has not learned a lesson and has not taken this matter as an important national priority. The country will not evolve and go further if such things are not changed immediately.

Our new prime minister has very good diplomatic relations with the Mr. Abe, current Japanese prime minister. How will he handle the situation in case this comes up in their discussion. He really needs make concentrated efforts to show that he is concerned about the safety of women in this country.

The fallouts are commonly known to most Indians- female foeticide,  lesser foreigners travelling India and a very ugly image of the country.

There is no point having computer geniuses, scientists, mathematicians, world class development if behind this whole mirage what lies is unspeakable. Female Rapes, Molestation, Patriarchal family status, underdevelopment of the girl child.

Precautions that one needs to take once in India are important and non-negotiable(NAKUMDDA):-

  1. NEVER go out with strangers outside safe vicinity - cafes, restaurants etc
  2. ALWAYS have a back up number for emergencies
  3. KEEP police contact number in speed dial - 100 ( no prefix, no suffix just plain 100)
  4. UNDER any circumstance drink anything that is not served in front of you
  5. MAKE sure you have contact information of the hotel always with you
  6. DO not share your personal details without being absolutely sure
  7. DRESS conservatively whenever travelling outside the metropolitan cities
  8. AVOID going out alone late at night.

Just follow NAKKUMDDA and you will find yourself much safer and in much better control of being in India and you shall actually enjoy your time travelling India.
